So many fun family events this weekend!
Volcan Valley Apple Farm
Julian’s largest orchard, Volcan Valley Apple Farm, comes alive with 7,000 trellis-grown apple trees of red and green apples ready to pick. Choose between seven varieties of apples, including the famed Gravenstein, Red Delicious and Granny Smith. Grab a bag for $12 and then head into the fields to fill it up. Also on-site: Granny’s Pies and sometimes there are food trucks that swing by to feed hungry apple pickers! Grab a bite to eat to enjoy at the shaded picnic tables.

MISSION BEACH
Every year, hundreds of surfers pile into the waters of Mission Beach for the 100 Wave Challenge to help raise money for Boys to Men Mentoring, which supports at-risk boys in San Diego who grow up without fathers. Surf icons Shaun Tomson and Damien Hobgood will lead the charge as the scores of surfers attempt to catch 100 waves in one day.
INDULGE YOUR LOVE OF ‘TOP GUN’ & HONOR VIETNAM VETERANS
MCAS MIRAMAR
The three-day MCAS Miramar Air Show happens this weekend, and while the famed TOPGUN training program relocated from MCAS Miramar in 1996, the event will still feature flying demonstrations from the Army’s Golden Knights and the Navy’s Blue Angels. The event will also serve as a salute to the many Vietnam War veterans living in the San Diego area.
EAT, DRINK, AND INTERACT WITH WILD ANIMALS
You know what makes gorging yourself on free food and drink samples from 160+ restaurants, breweries, and wineries more fun? Doing it around wild animals. The San Diego Zoo’s annual Food, Wine & Brew Celebration goes down Saturday night and allows participants to stroll the grounds, take in live music performances, and experience animal presentations, all while eating and drinking like they’re going to the chair. It’s a winning combo.
PADDLE AROUND THE OB PIER & HELP RAISE AWARENESS FOR OCEAN HEALTH
OCEAN BEACH PIER
Do you love the ocean? Seeing as you live in San Diego, the answer to that question is most likely yes. So show off your love for the ocean by joining the San Diego Surfrider Foundation in its largest awareness event of the year, and grab your surfboard/SUP/boogie board/general flotation device and paddling around the OB Pier (the world’s longest concrete pier). A little Sunday morning saltwater will do your mind well, and you’ll be helping a great local charity.
BALBOA THEATRE
This elegant vaudeville venue was recently named one of the 15 most spectacular theaters in the world, so end your weekend with a screening Mel Brooks’ timeless classic, Young Frankenstein. It’ll be a moviegoing experience unlike any you’ve ever had, and will definitely help make your transition into Monday morning a tad more palatable.
And of course, if you are thinking of buying or selling a home, please give me a call to make that happen! Enjoy your weekend in our beautiful City.
